Netherlands Fractal Pattern & Its History

The Netherlands Fractal Pattern (NFP) is the Royal Dutch Army's newest camouflage pattern. Adopted to replace all other patterns worn by the Dutch military, it began being issued in 2014. NFP is part of a standardization and modernization program by the Dutch Ministry of Defense. 

Its development began way back in 2008 as a collaboration between the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) and the Dutch Ministry of Defense. 

This Piece of Kit

As part of the Individueel Soldaat Systeem (Individual Soldier System) program the Dutch military is adopting new equipment and uniforms. This plate carrier is part of the VOSS (Verbeterd Operationeel Soldaat Systeem/Improved Operational Soldier System) program which has been responsible for developing equipment such as plate carriers and pouches.

AP did not purchase any Dutch NFP directly from anyone involved with the Dutch MOD or military, nor was it shipped to us from inside the EU. We also do not ship NFP to the EU or any European countries.

This plate carrier is the base for a larger two-piece system which allows the Dutch soldier to assemble kit on a per-mission basis. It functions as a low-visibility plate carrier without pouches or velcro to attach a placard.

In Dutch service this is worn underneath a MOLLE plate carrier which holds pouches containing ammunition, radios and any other kit a soldier may need.

These plate carriers will fit standard 8.75" x 11.75" SAPI cut plates and trauma pads.
