It’s in great condition, very drippy, although there’s seemingly no way to attach it to the jacket🤷

Complete your military surplus collection with the Issued East German Strichtarn Helmet Cover. This helmet cover is perfect for enthusiasts of East German history, military surplus, and retro Warsaw Pact aesthetics. Designed to provide both functionality and an authentic look, it is a great addition to any military gear collection.

East German soldiers rarely wore these, instead opting to equip their Stahlhelms with helmet netting.

The Short & Sweet:

  • Durable Material: Made from a robust blend of polyester and cotton, ensuring long-lasting wear.
  • Distinctive Camouflage: Features the unique Strichtarn "rain pattern" camouflage, ideal for effective concealment.
  • Adjustable Fit: Equipped with a drawstring for a secure fit on M56 helmets and other similar styles.
  • Functional Design: Includes a tuck-away sniper/mosquito veil for added versatility.
  • Authentic Surplus: Genuine East German military issue.

History of Strichtarn Camouflage:

The Strichtarn camouflage pattern, also known as "rain pattern," was first introduced by the National People's Army (NVA) of East Germany in 1965. This pattern, inspired by earlier German designs, was developed to provide effective concealment in various environments, especially in forested and urban areas. The vertical "rain" lines were intended to disrupt the silhouette of soldiers, enhancing their stealth. Strichtarn became a symbol of East German military identity and remained in use until the reunification of Germany in 1990.
